Getting started.

Greetings! First things first, I'm Joshua. I can be found online as Squeezle Jenkins, a pseudonym constructed from a Far Side comic titled "The squirrels of Central Park", and the infamous World of Warcraft character Leeroy Jenkins.

This blog is my first attempt at any sort of writing, either personal or professional. I never did enjoy writing as a child or teenager, but as an "adult" I often have a difficult time keeping quiet, and I feel that this may help me exhaust the mental energy that gets built up throughout the day. The title of this post is dual purposed in that I'm starting a blog, and it will catalog the beginnings of a business, Men In Kilts (MIK), that will shortly be found throughout the state of Texas. The stories herein are going to be from not only the official histories of MIK Texas, but also anecdotes of the human error along the way.

A bit about me: At the time of writing I am 25 years old. I am an honorably discharged Navy veteran with two deployments in my five year career, one aboard the USS Kidd (DDG-100) to the western Pacific, and the second to the Helmand valley of Afghanistan supporting a Marine company. I have a CDL and drove over the road (OTR) for two years of my life after separating from the Navy. I am the sixth of 12 children. I have a number of tattoos, I used to drink, smoke, and carry on in all sorts of shenanigans, but I have since pulled myself together with the help of family and a wonderful girlfriend. I am a Mormon.

A bit about MIK: The owner of the company, Mr. Nicholas Brand, was once a starving window-washer. Being a man of Scottish descent, he donned a kilt for marketing purposes, and business began a-boomin'! Fast-forward a number of years to find Mr. Robert Cavnar, and Mr. Ed Hamilton, two friends and motorcycle enthusiasts with successful businesses. Ed had looked into owning a Kilted franchise previously, but it was when he heard that Bob had purchased the rights to Texas that he decided to go all-in.

I don't know what all goes into starting a business, especially one like this, so everything from that point on will be nothing more than my point of view on how it all came together.
